One day Kayak

Description Start out by meeting your instructor for the day and discussing what your expectations are. From there, you'll choose your kayak and gear from some of the newest designs on the market today. Once you arrive at the river, you'll start out your progression in flatwater and gentle current to help you get a feel for the sport. Where you progress from there is up to you! We've redesigned our kayak school from the ground up with you in mind, so come along with Class VI and find out what whitewater kayaking is all about.

Two days Kayak

Description There's more to whitewater kayaking than just sitting in a boat and paddling.  That's why the Class VI kayak school recommends a two day class to get a solid base while learning the sport.  We teach everything from forward and turning strokes to bracing to keep your boat upright in the rapids.  You'll begin on flatwater and progress toward rapids that suit your abilities, eventually earning an introduction to the "Eskimo Roll".  With all new gear for 2007, two days of instruction at Class VI's kayak school will have you well on your way towards exploring whitewater on your own terms--in a kayak.

Three days Kayak

Description Rolling a whitewater kayaking is kind of like hitting a golf ball in that there are a lot of things you have to think about to do it right.  The difference is that when you're rolling a kayak, you're upside down, your head's under water, and you can't breathe.  It only sounds intimidating because you haven't met our top-notch instructional staff.  At Class VI, we have only the best to take you through this three day clinic.  It's a progression of strokes, weight distribution and mental focus that's introduced as you need it, helping to get you and your kayak right where you want to be.  Move along at a pace that's comfortable to you, and find out what you need to know through your instructor's wealth of knowledge and safety skills.  If you want to jump into a sport that's as varied as it is exciting, sign up for three days of whitewater classes with Class VI!

Four days Kayak

Description If there's no doubt in your mind that you want to be a whitewater kayaker, if you know in your bones that hardboating is for you, look no further.  Four days of personalized instruction at Class VI on the world famous New River will give you a rock-solid platform to begin your lifelong love affair with whitewater kayaking.  We'll cover everything from boat design and specifications to river hydrology to eddy turns and peel outs.  Focus is on fundamentals like paddlestroke form and function and rolling your boat, but we'll also introduce beginning playboating and rescue skills.  The techniques covered in this class will be honed over years of river running, because even the best boaters will tell you that they learn something every time they hit the river.  But with a start like the one we'll give you in this package, you'll be well on your way to finding that out for yourself.
